“We hope to provide instructors and parents with information and resources 
to increase the effectiveness of student enrichment in their academics to pursue 
a higher quality of education that meets the needs of each individual student 
learner.”

The individuals that attend the Kansas Academy of Mathematics and Science are 
exceptional students that represent urban, suburban, and rural communities across 
the entire state. From a firsthand experience, we recognize and acknowledge the 
lack of attention for gifted education when it comes to identifying students and 
providing them with appropriate curriculum to help enrich their development. 
We would like to emphasize the uniqueness of every learning child and their very 
different needs. Collaborating with Professor Linda Smith in the College of Arts 
and Sciences at Fort Hays State University, we have compiled coursework, lesson 
plans, and ideas that we felt would benefit students with a variety of talents and 
interests that do not have access to the necessary finances, tools, and additional resources.
